Everybody's working for the weekend...

I don't regularly watch game shows. I do love Wheel of Fortune, but that's only because I'm kind of good at it. Basically, I watch it to impress myself. L-A-M-E.

Regardless, my best pal M was over this past week to watch the Big Brother 8 season finale. While we waited for it to start, we caught some of Drew Carey's new game show Power of 10. Drew Carey asks the contestants a question that begins with the phrase "What percentage of Americans..." One of last week's questions, for example, was "What percentage of Americans have played spin the bottle?" The contestants try to guess (using varying ranges of percentages) how Americans responded.

One answer to a particular question absolutely blew me away, to the point that I have been fixated on it since Tuesday.

"What percentage of Americans said they 'live for the weekend'?"

Immediate, aloud responses:
Me: 78%
M: 70%

The contestants, Zoilo and Alisha were on opposite ends of the spectrum.
Zoilo: 19%
Alisha: 74%

America's Answer: 22%

(What the hell?!?!?! I know! You don't even believe it do you? That's why I c+p'ed proof: http://www.cbs.com/primetime/powerof10/community/index.php?ep=11&id=10)

This has left me with some burning questions:

  • What does Zoilo do for a living?
  • Are my friends and I seriously part of only 22% of the nation that likes to not be at work?
  • Can I get Alisha's number? We're clearly meant to be friends.
Let's get one thing straight: I don't really even HAVE weekends. At least once a weekend I have to put in an 8 hour day. Yesterday, for instance, I worked for 15 hours. Hooray for no Saturday! Regardless, I still fixate on Friday. It's the American thing to do.
